UNINSURED MOTOR VEHICLE VIOLATIONS:
If you were charged with a SINGLE citation for the charge of Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle AND you did have valid insurance on the date and time you received the ticket, you may present valid proof of insurance PRIOR to your court date at the Boone County Circuit Clerk's Office, PRIOR to your court date.  The following is a list of what documents will be accepted as proof of valid insurance:

  • Illinois Insurance Card valid at the time the ticket was issued, OR
  • Declaration page from insurance policy, OR
  • Original letter from your insurance company on company letterhead that clearly states the insurance was valid at the time of the ticket. This letter must include the date the policy started and the date it ends. It also must include the make, model and VIN number of the vehicle in question.

The Circuit Clerk's Office is NOT authorized to dismiss an Operating Uninsured Motor Vehicle charge for vehicles that are fleet insured. If you have fleet insurance, you must appear in court. The Circuit Clerk will NOT accept proof of insurance from a phone screenshot. You will need to provide a physical copy of one of the documents listed above.

The Circuit Clerk's Office is NOT authorized to dismiss an Operating Uninsured Motor Vehicle charge if you recived additional citation(s) at that time.  The Circuit Clerk's Office reserves the right to refuse to dismiss an Operating Uninsured Motor Vehicle charge administratively and require the party to appear in court.

If your ticket is marked "NO COURT APPEARANCE REQUIRED"

The "Court Date" on your ticket is not a court date - it is a due date to take action on your ticket.
